Mary Lulu Jackson, born 27 November 1875 at Oneonta, New York, the third of five children to James Knox Polk Jackson and Julia Alice Grant Jackson, was a direct descendant of John and Betty More's John line. She was raised at Deans Corners, New York where her father was a publisher. The family relocated to Margaretville, New York about 1881. Mary graduated from Margaretville High School and then graduated from the first class ever of Oneonta Normal School in 1905 at Oneonta. From 1905 through 1919, she resided in the home of her parents at Middletown, New York where her father was a newspaper editor and where she herself taught high school at Margaretville and at Galetin, Pennsylvania. She also served on the faculty at Endicott schools at Endicott, New York. Mary retired about 1920 and relocated to Binghamton, New York to reside in the home of her sister Fanny who had married to Charles Moore Allaben, a physician. During this time, Mary worked as a post office clerk and as a substitute teacher at Lady Jane Gray School at Binghamton. Mary died on 31 July 1941 at the Binghamton city hospital after a lengthy illness and was buried in Margaretville Cemetery at Margaretville. She had not married.
