Margaret Getts Hardy, 87, passed away on July 19, 2023, at her home in Helena, Alabama. She is survived by her children, grandchildren; great-grandchild; step grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, numerous nieces and nephews, and life-long friends. Margaret was born October 12, 1935, in Wilkes, Alabama, to Ruth Aldridge Hilliard and Wiley Blunt Hilliard, who preceded her in death. She was the 10th of 12 children. She is preceded in death by her husband's Bobby R. Getts and Ronald L. Hardy.
Margaret was a 1954 graduate of Jones Valley High School. She was an active and faithful member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church for over fifty years where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. She loved teaching, missions, and music and singing in church choir on Sundays. In recent years she was a member of Siluria Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian and wanted everyone to know the Lord and have a relationship with Him.
She is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and faithful servant. She was a consummate hostess. She received great joy planning and hosting church events, parties, and entertaining her family and friends. She loved her family and was a blessing in their lives and a wonderful role model. She truly cared about other people and was a lady of grace and compassion.
The family would like to thank: Her caregivers Beth Sanders, Melissa Scroggins, and Brenda Wright; the staff of Compassus Hospice, the Pastoral Staff and members of Siluria Baptist Church for all the love, care, and comfort given.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of her Fairfield Highlands Sunday School Class. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
