Bradley W. Pavek, 66, of Fargo, passed away at home, unexpectedly, on March 7, 2023.
Brad was born to John and Rosalie (Kadlec) Pavek, just 46 minutes ahead of his fraternal twin brother, Brian, in Fargo, ND. He attended St. Mary's grade School, Shanley High School, graduating from Fargo Public Schools, in 1975.
Brad was "voluntold" to be part of the MS Society "Rent-A-Gent" auction. He supported the cause, having had his maternal grandmother die from the disease. It was there, that he met Monica Straley. She was a brown-eyed, dark-haired girl, something he always wanted in a wife (purchase price never disclosed to Brad). They married February 14, 1987, in Fargo. They were married for 36 years. He was dad to Savannah and John, "Pops" to his 4 awesome grandkids: Hadleigh, Eason and Axel Dickelman, and Lilian Pavek. His favorite and numerous nieces and nephews, called him "Uncle Bad".
Brad was a dedicated volunteer at the Emergency Food Pantry, having done so for more than 15 years. His working years included; Steiger Tractor, DMI, ND Motor Vehicle, ND Driver's License, ND DOT, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and even delivering the Midweek Eagle. Brad was certified in Safety Standards. He attended weeklong OSHA classes in the DC area. He was president of the local AFL-CIO Central Labor Council in Fargo, and always a union member. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church, 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Brad worked on Senator Burdick's, last re-election campaign.
Brad was a proud dog owner, having had Layce, an English Springer Spaniel. After Layce died, his health declined, but his dog whisperer gene came through when the neighborhood pets would be walking by. He provided water and treats and made many new friends. He even went so far as to make the neighbors' dog sick, by providing an excess amount of treats!
Brad could be a trickster. Find out about the day he "won more than a million dollars." He could be found with a Dumdum sucker in his mouth almost anytime. He suffered from dry mouth and suckers were much comfort to him.
Brad is survived by his understanding wife, Monica; daughter, Savannah (Heath Dickelman); son, John (Ashley); and his four grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters: Kaye (Tom Sullivan) Prescott, AZ., Julie (Roy Warner), Springfield, VA., Kari (Dave Marsh), Brooklyn Park, MN.; brothers: JD, Lake Oswego, OR., and Brian, Maple Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kevin.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
