Gordon Dean Pickens Sr., 63 of Star City, passed away on July 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 15,1960 to the late Franz and Margaret Ilean Cisco Pickens. Gordon was of the Assembly of God faith and was a farmer for 15 years. He worked for Virgil Jones and Son Farm, George Minor Farms and Gasaway Farms during that time. In 1995, he started driving a propane truck and retired after 24 years. He drove for Southern LP Gas, Matthews, and FerrellGas Co. But what Gordon loved the most was his wife, Meda, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Gordon and Meda were married on June 2, 1977, and had four children, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren during those 46 years.

Besides his parents, Gordon was proceeded in death by three brothers, Ronnie Pickens, Norman Lee Pickens Sr. and Jimmy Franz Pickens, two sisters, Jackie Pickens and Ella Faye Abbott.

Survivors include his wife, Meda Ilene James Pickens of Star City; three daughters, Kimberly "Kim" (Daniel) Reeves, Brooke (Josh) Holcomb and Samantha "Sam" (Jeffrey) Robertson, all of Star City; one son, Gordon Dean Pickens Jr. of Benton; ten grandchildren, Morgan Arey, Macy Arey, Cody Pickens, Jacob Holcomb, Jesse Holcomb, James Holcomb, Nathan Graham, Levi Graham, Rhett Robertson and upcoming Glen Sawyer Robertson due in December; and two great grandchildren, Brexton Manis and MaeLynne Green; three brothers, Roger Pickens of Tillar, Paul Pickens of Star City and Frankie Pickens of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Betty Chambliss of Pine Bluff , Debbie Bates, Libby Chambliss both of Star City. Gordon had many nieces, nephews and cousins that was very special to him.

Funeral arrangements: visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2023, from 6-8pm, at Griffin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Garrett Bridge Assembly of God on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2pm with Bro. Kevin Hornaday and Bro. Paul Pickens officiating. Burial to follow at Tyro Cemetery. Pallbearers are Cody Pickens, Jacob Holcomb, Jesse Holcomb, James Holcomb, Nathan Graham, BJ James, Jimmy Kevin Pickens and Jonathan Sullivan.
