Thomas Shelton Abney, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the age of 79. Thomas was born on March 10, 1944 on the family farm in Napton, Missouri to Thomas Smith and Marie Abney (Ballowe). He grew up on that farm and the family is proud to have kept that farm in the family since 1819. After graduating from Missouri Valley College, Thomas enlisted in the United States Air Force and began a 24 year military career as an air traffic controller. After he retired from the Air Force he than managed several GNC stores and then retired from GNC as well. He married the love of life, Terry Ross, on June 11, 1967. They spent the next 56 years of love and adventure together. Thomas loved Terry so much, it is believed that he held on as long as he did just to make sure he had everything taken care of for her. Thomas was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, dog dad, and friend, and he is truly missed by all of those that he touched in his life.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Terry Abney; daughter, Kimberly Ross and her husband Scott Mills; grandchildren, Zachary Dare and his wife Katelyn Dare, Jacob ross, Taylor Mills, and Landon Mills; great grandchild, Kyler Dare; brothers, Pat Abney and Donald Abney; and his Chihuahua companions, Gracie and Lola.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Smith and Marie Abney (Ballowe); brother, Robert Abney; and special American Eskimo companion, Rosebud.
