Catherine L. Courtney, 98, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008, at the Glen at Willow Valley. Born in Connellsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Sidney A. and Martha Mae Crossland Moser. She was the wife of the late Harry F. Courtney who died in 1984.
A 1927 graduate of Connellsville High School, and also a 1931 graduate of Graduate Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, she was a registered nurse for Graduate Hospital, Westinghouse in Lester, PA, and the former Dunwoody Home for Men, in Newtown Square, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newtown Square from 1948 to 1985, and active in the March of Dimes in the 1950s. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
Surviving are a son, Sidney husband of Claudia Courtney of Dover, Del.; 2 grandsons, Wayne Courtney and Mark Courtney, both of Newcastle County, Del.
A funeral service will be held from the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 2 PM. The family will visit with friends from 1 to 2 PM. Interment in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville, will be on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 2 PM. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County. P.O.
