Ronald L. BABCOCK, 72, R.R. 1, Culver, died at 4:20 a.m. today in the Miller nursing home here, where he had been a patient for the last three weeks. He had been ill for six weeks.

A past Noble Grand of the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 373, Mr. Babcock had spent his entire life in the Lake Maxinkuckee vicinity.

He was born in Union township, Marshall county, on July 23, 1885, the son of Isaac L. and Laura Ellen (SPANGLER) BABCOCK. [On May 21, 1904], he was married to Ida MILLISER, who died in 1946. His second marriage was in August, 1950, to Cora HAHN, who survives.

Caretaker of the Marmon estate on the East Shore road at Culver, Mr. Babcock was a member of the Maxinkuckee Methodist church.

Surviving besides the widow are a son, George [BABCOCK], R.R. 1, Culver; a granddaughter, Mrs. Hattie HENDERSON COUNTS, Nappanee; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert P. and Lawrence [BABCOCK], Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. Ielda CALLOWAY, Rochester, and Mrs. Alice FOGELSONG, Kalamazoo, Mich. A daughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Grossman funeral home at Argos with the Rev. Kendall SANDS officiating. Burial will be in the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. cemetery where the lodge will conduct graveside rites. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
