Betty Jo Alger, 83, of LaGrange died Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mrs. Alger was born March 18, 1924 in LaGrange, daughter of the late Lawrence Wadsworth and Mary Salmon Wadsworth. She had lived in LaGrange most of her life and was a member of Dunson United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary of the church for many years, and the Dunson United Methodist Women. Mrs. Alger was retired from the Alumni office of the LaGrange College.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick J. and Susan Alger of Nashville, TN; daughter, Mary A. Goodwin of Kirkland, WA; grandsons, Ryan Alger and Jason Goodwin; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Margaret Wadsworth of Columbus, GA; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Bobbie and E.Z. Benefield of Lineville, AL and Linda Giles of Pompano Beach, FL; three sisters-in-law, Jennie Wadsworth and Linda Wadsworth both of LaGrange, and Nanette Wadsworth Carter of Louvale, GA; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 24, 2007 at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel with Reverend Alvin Lingenfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dunson United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 276, LaGrange, GA 30241 in memory of Mrs. Betty Jo Alger.
