Lonzo Franklin Driskill, 84, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, passed away peacefully in his home, Sunday, July 3, 2005.
Frank was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Porum, Oklahoma. He joined the Army in 1942, he was in the Battle of Bastone, Landing in Normandy and served under General Patton. Frank received the Silver Star during WWII.
Frank married Ethel Mary Pruett in 1947 in Nevada. He moved his family to Alamogordo in 1956. He retired from Civil Service at Holloman AFB in 1983. Frank was a lifetime member of the VFW, Eagles, a member of the Eastern Star and Masons.
Frank spent the last five and half years caring for his wife at home.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ethel Pruett Driskill of Alamogordo; two sons, William "Dale" Driskill and wife Suzan of Texas; Wesley and wife Sharon of Texas; two daughters, Barbara Rossi and husband Burl of California.; Linda Driskill Hancock of Alamogordo; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Krweger of Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston Driskill and Edna (Meyers) Driskill ; a grandson Rhett Hancock in 1994; five brothers and one sister.
There will be a private family memorial service.
