William Edward Daggitt, 87, Centerville, Ohio, formerly of the Bloomington area, was called home Saturday, (March 22, 2008).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donal Lockman and Margaret (Keenan) Daggitt; Evelyn (Ensign) Daggitt, his wife of 64 years; son, Donal R. Daggitt; daughter, Margaret Sue Fry; and brother, Donal Patrick Daggitt.

Surviving children include, Betty (Milton) Neuman, Bluffton, S.C.; William Michael (Betty) Daggitt, Reston, Va.; Steven Richard (Susan) Daggitt, Madeira, Ohio; John Thomas (Caroline) Daggitt, Bethesda, Md.; and Mary Christine (Michael) Tebo, Albuquerque, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren mourn his passing the day before Easter.

Ever young, Bill was engaged to be married in April to Mary Harris of Lisle.

Bill graduated from Trinity High School, Bloomington, attended Illinois State Normal University before enlisting in the Army Air Corps. He was a veteran of World War II, recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as a veteran of the Korean War. Bill retired from the Air Force as a colonel in 1971.

Bill worked tirelessly as president of Catholic Migrant Ministries.
