Sunapee, NH-William H. Shea, 87, of Lake Avenue, died Friday, March 28, 2008 at his home. He was born in Amherst, MA on Jan. 19, 1921 the son of John and Dora (Mongeau) Shea. He graduated from Amherst Regional High School and lived in Amherst for many years. Mr. Shea was an apprentice at the Springfield, MA Armory and went on to work there for 27 years. He went to work for Sturm Ruger in Newport, NH in 1970 and retired in 1992 as a quality control manager. He served in the US Army during WWII. In his younger days he enjoyed skiing and was an avid Red Sox fan. His wife, Harriett (Puffer) Shea, died in 2000. Members of his family surviving include a son, William H. Shea, Jr. of Berwyn, PA; two daughters, Carole Madden of Port Charlotte, FL and Sandra Shea of Brookline, MA; six grandchildren, John, Timothy, Ethan, Andy, Jamie, and Steven; and three great grandchildren, Catherine, Carol, and Henry.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the NH Food Bank, 62 West Brook Street, Manchester, NH 03101. Chadwick Funeral Service of New London, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
