"John R. Amos, 81, of 1714 Central, Kansas City, Kansas, died yesterday at Bethany Hospital. Mr. Amos was born in Buchanan County, Missouri, and had lived in Kansas City, Kansas, 75 years. He was a pipe fitter before he retired in 1954, and was a member of local No. 533 of the Pipe Fitter's union. He leaves four sons, Jack L. Amos of the home, David L. Amos and Larry Amos, both of Kansas City, Kansas, and Sgt. Frederic L. Amos of China Lake, Calif.; two brothers, Charles Amos of Kansas City, Kansas, and Melvin Amos of St Joseph, Mo.; and nine grandchildren. Services will be at 2 o'clock Tuesday at the Butler chapel, Kansas City, Kansas; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas." The Kansas City Star, November 15, 1970
