Edward Jackson was born February 17, 1755 in South Carolina. He married Charity Hill in 1780. He later married Mary Hall in 1803. Some sources indicate that Edward Jackson had as many as 22 children.

Edward Jackson was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He received a land bounty in Muscogee County, Georgia in 1827 and he also received a pension as a Veteran of the Revolution. His claim number is W.2119. His information is also documented with the D.A.R. This marker was erected by the William Marsh Chapter of the D.A.R. from Lafayette, Georgia in 1939. They maintain his gravesite several times a year.

Edward Jackson is mentioned in White's Historical Collections page 483 as one of the old men of Gwinnett County, Georgia, his age being given as 87 years. He came to Walker County to live with his children and grandchildren a few years before his death in 1845.

A second memorial including a stone is listed for Edward Jackson in Suwanee Memorial Cemetery, Gwinnett County, Georgia. I am confident that Edward Jackson, the Revolutionary Soldier who died in 1845 is buried in Poe Cemetery.

The following is the obituary of his grandaughter Lydia Myers from the Walker County Messenger, February 9, 1888.

"Mrs. Lydia Myers, who died at the residence of her son G. B. Myers on the 28th (Jan.) in the 75th year of her age, was the daughter of David Jackson, and the granddaughter of the revolutionary soldier Edward Jackson, who is buried on the Marsh Place (Poe Cemetery) above Trion."
