Sgt. Charles A. Jankowski of Panama City, Florida was a 2002 graduate of Rutherford High School. He participated in the ROTC program and enlisted in the military right after graduation. Charles as an outdoorsman. He loved to BBQ and loved to Ford trucks. He was on his second tour of the war torn country. After enlisting in the Army in 2002, just months after graduating from Rutherford High School. He was supposed to be home in a matter of weeks on leave. Charles was looking forward to a job in forestry when he got out of the Army in April 2009. He died in Arab Jabour, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle at age 24.
