John E. Hoffman

John E. Hoffman of Saltillo died Sunday evening, June 25. 1944, at 4:55 o'clock, at his home. He had been confined to his bed for three months suffering with a heart ailment.

He was born in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, on August 22, 1881, the son of Conrad and Anna Shope Hoffman. He was united in marriage to Maude Lane of Three Springs and they established their home in Saltillo where they spent their entire married life.

Mr. Hoffman was a kind husband and loving father, devoted to his home and family. He will be sadly missed by his wife and the following sons and daughters: Pauline (Mrs. Fred Stake) Rockhill Furnace; Melvin and Anna Hoffman, Lewistown; and Phil Hoffman, United States Navy. Five grandchildren and these brothers and sisters also survive: Harris Hoffman and Russell Hoffman, Three Springs R.D.; Mrs. Ethel Edmondson, Juniata; Mrs. Herman Booher, Mill Creek; and Mrs. George Detwiler, Three Springs R. D.

Mr. Hoffman attended the Methodist Church and Sunday school.

The funeral service was held at the late home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. Clyde Way officiating. Interment was made in the Saltillo Cemetery by Green's funeral service.
