Jimmie was born February 28, 1937, in Gordon County, son of the late Ernest C. Avery and Mollie Rich Avery. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict and the Georgia National Guard. Jimmie was a member of the Meadowdale Baptist Church and was employed by OMC prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Oothcaloga Masonic Lodge #154, the Echota Vann Shrine Club, the VFW Post #5376, and was past-Commander of the Calhoun American Legion Post #47. Jimmie loved motorcycles but he worshiped his boys.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, George Avery.
