She was the daughter of Patrick H. and Mary K. (Weber) Fair. As a young girl, her family moved to the McIntire, Iowa area. She met and married Christopher D. Miller of Gilbertsville, Iowa on February 1, 1930 in Beloit, Wisconsin. Chris and Mary raised their five children in Beloit and later in Afton, Wisconsin, where they lived for many years. Chris died in 1990. Mary was a loving kind mother and friend with a delightful sense of humor, who looked for the best in everyone. After her family was raised Mary worked part time at Cedar Crest and also at the St. Mary's rectory in Janesville.
