Herman Westbrook Obituary
McAllen - Herman G. Westbrook , 94, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at McAllen Medical Center. Kreidler Funeral Home of McAllen is in charge of arrangements.

Now let me try and tell you a little about this man and his life between the dash. As written by Virginia Tiller-Perigo and the information she gathered during interviews with her first cousin.
Herman enlisted into the U.S. Air Force 27 Dec 1950 and took his basic training in Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He spent six months in Greenville, Mississippi training toward receiving his wings. In Greenville he met the love of his life, Alla Mae Quinn and they were married 5 April 1952. In the coming years Alla Mae followed Herman in his career.
Then he went on to Bryan Air Force Base, College Station, Texas and graduated with the first jet class in Texas, 22 Mar 1952. Herman was then sent to gunnery school Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Nevada and flew F80 air craft.
By September 1952 Herman was in Korea. There he was grounded with an eye infection. He flew F84G when in Korea. In 1953 he was sent to Luke Air Force Base, Phoenix, Arizona and flew F84. Then off to Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia and flew F84F.
In August of 1958Herman was transferred to Okinawa, Japan and there he flew F100. He made several short trips to places like: Wake Island, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tokyo, Korea and Guam. Then 19 July 1962 was sent to Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, New Mexico. By 1964 he was off to Korat, Thailand and spent six months there.
It seems he was all over the place and Aug 1966 was transferred to London, England. They lived at Chalfount, St. Peter, England which is right outside England.
They came back to the states and was transferred to Laredo Air Force Base, Laredo, Texas and he flew T38 and T 37 jets. He retired in 1971 while at Laredo.
I would say he had a commendable career and served his country well. Herman and Alla Mae have three children; Glen, Dabney and Wesley. Alla Mae needs to b commended for sticking by him through the those moves.
