Services for Jerry E. Cooper, age 61 of Grayson will be held at 10:00 A.M Saturday, March 29, 2008 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Eric Harriman officiating. Dallas "Frog" Crain will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Mr. Cooper was born in Columbia on December 3, 1946 to the union of Harold E. and Annie Ruth Rucker Cooper and died Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was a deputy sheriff with the Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office and a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia. He was also a retired farmer and a member of the Bayou Dan Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his father: Harold E. Cooper and his step-father: Rudolph Stapleton. Survivors include his wife: Teresa Arceneaux Cooper of Grayson, his son: Logan E. Cooper of Grayson, his daughters: Rachel Cooper of Hebert and Jennifer McDougald and husband Reggie of Calhoun, his mother: Annie Ruth Rucker Stapleton of Grayson, his grandchild: Reese McDougald and a special friend: Jessica Stamper of Grayson. Pallbearers will be Keith Wilkins, Bernard Gray, Jay Gore, Jerry Futch, Tony Childress and Chester Coleman. Honorary pallbearers are Eloy Washer, Hank Boyles, Jerry Lambert, Tommy Fulford, Sheriff Steve May and Chief Deputy Glenn Gilmore. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia.
