OGDEN-Kenneth Harold Wadsworth, our beloved husband and father, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on March 25, 2008. He had only just begun to fight a brave battle against Cancer.

Ken was born December 2, 1959 to H. Wayne and Laila Wadsworth in Atlanta, Georgia, where Wayne was serving as a special agent in the FBI. Ken was the second of five children, four sons and one daughter. In 1961, the family moved to Salt Lake City, where Ken's father began practicing law. Ken had many fond memories of his childhood and enjoyed reminiscing about adventurous camping trips in the Uinta Mountains with his father and brothers, riding in on horseback and building rafts to fish on the lake. Ken also grew up being very proud of his Norwegian "blue blood" and was thrilled to visit Norway in 1998 with his mother and her family when they commemorated the 50th anniversary of their leaving Norway to immigrate to the United States. Ken enjoyed and excelled in many sports, especially baseball, wrestling and football. He spoke often about the blessings of having athletics be such a big part of his youth, particularly of the many great friendships that developed with his teammates. Some of his athletic highlights included being able to play starting fullback on two State Champion football teams for Skyline High School in his junior and senior years. He made the All-State team and the Honorable Mention All-American football team. Ken was also a State Champion wrestler at 185 lbs. After graduating from Skyline in 1978, he received a football scholarship to Utah State University and enjoyed playing two seasons there for Coach Bruce Snyder. Ken served a 2-year LDS mission in Brisbane, Australia from 1980 to 1982, where he fell in love with the land and the people. Upon his return, he attended the University of Utah as a pre-med student.

Also attending the U of U was Suzanne Pinegar, a good friend from Skyline High School. It wasn't long before their friendship blossomed into a full-blown romance. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 21, 1984 and were looking forward to celebrating their 25th anniversary next year with their first return trip to Hawaii, where they had spent their honeymoon. Ken graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Behavioral Health & Sciences in June of 1987. That September, Ken and Suzanne moved to Boston to attend Boston University, where Ken would earn a Masters degree in Medical Science in 1989. They thoroughly loved their stay in New England and had also looked forward to one day returning there with their girls on college tours, especially during the peak of the Fall Foliage. They returned home to Salt Lake City when Ken was accepted to medical school at the University of Utah in the fall of 1989. He was so excited to finally be pursuing his chosen career as a physician. His 4th year of medical school was delayed for one year due to complications from surgery that left him unable to walk for several months. As he would prove time and time again, Ken had incredible courage and resolve which would help him endure many difficult trials in his life. He completed medical school in 1994 and then began a six-year Urology residency at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. Ken and Suzanne found great adventures and wonderful friends in Ohio. The year 2000 was the high point of their life together: Ken's residency was completed, they moved back home to Utah among loved ones and friends, set up his medical practice in Ogden, and best of all welcomed with great love their first darling daughter, Emma, after 16 long and painful years of hoping and praying for such a miracle. They reached new heights when their little family happily welcomed another darling daughter, Kate, in 2005. Of all Ken's achievements, none has brought him more happiness and fulfillment than his two sweet girls. In the wake of his sudden death, we, his family, have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and affection from friends and family, as well as from professional colleagues and Ken's patients. We have been warmed by the realization that he was beloved and admired by so many.

Ken is survived by his biggest fan and wife, Suzanne; their two adoring daughters, Emma (age 7) and Kate (age 2); his parents (H. Wayne & Laila Wadsworth); his siblings, Warren, Jeffrey (Alison), Theresa (Jeff Larsen) & Erik (Shelly); his in-laws (Rex & Bonnie Pinegar); and a large extended family of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. We are heartbroken and cannot imagine our life ahead without the bright light of Ken's amazing smile and endearing laugh. Yet we feel so blessed to have shared his earthly life with him and look forward to the day when we will be reunited forever.

Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Malan's Peak Ward Chapel in Ogden (1647 E. 26th St). Viewings will be held Monday, March 31, at Myers Mortuary in Ogden (845 Washington Blvd) from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday prior to the Funeral from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Church.
Interment will be at the Historic Holladay Memorial Park in Holladay, Utah (4900 South Memory Lane, just East of the Cottonwood Mall).
