1.) DIED. At his home in Elm Township, on Sunday, Feb. 3rd, Mr. S. W. McCormick a resident of this county since 1874.

He was born in 1834, in the state of New York; was married in 1855 to a sister of James H. Smith (living near Clearwater) removed to Wis. in 1856, thence to Missouri in 1871 and from that state here.

His estimable wife, three daughters and two sons survive him.

He was a skillful mechanic--was contractor and builder of Gates college. He was an intelligent, genial, and companionable man. As a friend, neighbor, and citizen he will be mourned by our whole community.

He was buried from the Congregational church on the 5th inst--Rev. H. Griffiths conducting the services.

2.) We always like to chronicle anything complimentary to a deserving man. Hence we take pleasure in stating that man who ought to be a good judge pronounced S. W. McCormick of Elm one of the best and most careful of the cream-gatherers employed by the Neligh creamery.
