Jacqueline Marie Popp Busby was born April 21, 1935 in West, Texas, to Joseph Edmund and Emma Lillian (Hilscher) Popp, and left this world peacefully July 1, 2023, at her beloved home in Ross.

A Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023 at White Rock Cemetery in Ross.

Jackie, affectionately known as Mamo, married her high school sweetheart, Richard Roe "Dick" Busby on September 1, 1951. Together they raised six children and were blessed with 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and more recently a great great-grandchild. Mamo was a much-endeared matriarch of the family who blessed everyone, friends, family, and guests, through the many family gatherings she hosted on the farm. Jackie always enjoyed the local events including the Annual Ross Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser, outings to the Ross Store, and vacations with other couples/friends.

Jackie was well known for her green thumb. For many years, her yard was a testament to her love of being outdoors and watching things grow! Even today, through water shortages and heatwaves, Mamo's yard continues to reflect something more significant than beautiful flowers and a lavish landscape. Her garden was one of her love languages. She enjoyed sharing cuttings and advice on how best to grow the cuttings to anyone who was interested. She was also known for her love of all animals including cows, horses, dogs, birds, and maybe a cat or two. She frequently took care of, without question, whatever stray appeared. She always had an open door for those who stopped for a visit or needed a place to stay. She was exceptionally kind that way and overall, lived a very selfless life dedicated to loving her large family.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; her only sibling, Irene Guthrie and spouse, Bill; a nephew, Kent; and her husband of 59 years Richard "Dick" Busby.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kim Busby, Kay Busby, Blane Busby and wife Pam, Tana Nichols, Francene Dorton and husband Kevin, and Richard Busby and wife Cindy; grandchildren Jennifer Ward and husband Michael, Jim Montgomery, Heather Coleman and husband Lance, Courtney Sanders, Ashley Bohannan, Matthew Busby and wife Sarah, Meagan Busby, Christopher Busby, Maralee Nichols, Haley Busby, Alexander Busby and wife Sarah, Caleb Dorton, Emily Busby, Jacob Dorton, Trey Busby, Aimee Busby, Gavin Busby, Ashlyn Busby, and Lauryn Busby; many beloved great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild.

Pallbearers are grandsons Jim Montgomery, Matthew Busby, Christopher Busby, Alex Busby, Caleb Dorton, Jacob Dorton, Trey Busby, and Gavin Busby.
