Heber C. Brimley, 75, 851 S. 1900 East, prominent Salt Lake City businessman, died Wednesday at a local hospital of complications following pneumonia.
Mr. Brimley worked for United States Steel Co. for 38 years, retiring as a senior sales representative. He was a former president of the Salt Lake City Jaycees, responsible for the organization receiving the Harold Marks Award, the highest United States Junior Chamber of Commerce award for civic achievement in a year's time.
He was also responsible for the Heber C. Brimley Award, given yearly for outstanding achievement in the Salt Lake community. He was a lifetime member of the Ambassador Club and a member and past chairman of the Aviation Club of Salt Lake City. A talented musician, he was a member of the Brimley Brothers Quartet. For many years, no gatherings in the city were complete without musical numbers from the group. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A native of Salt Lake City, Mr. Brimley was born July 14, 1903, to Thomas and Jessie Davey Brimley. He married Leanore Pixton Eardley June 30, 1928, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in May of 1978. He is survived by a son Richard E. and daughter-in-law, Eleanor; three grandchildren, all of Cambridge, Mass., and a brother, Harold D. of Huntington Beach, Calif. Funeral services will be Monday noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, where friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
