Linda C. Herren, of Woodland, Alabama, passed away on July 2, 2023. She was 78.
A longtime resident of Randolph County, Mrs. Herren was born on March 16, 1945 in Carroll County, Georgia to the late Walter William Downs, Sr. and Linnie Lee Brown Downs. She loved her family and she loved the Lord. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Bethel East Baptist Church. She worked in the clothing industry for Lamar Manufacturing and BBI and part-time as housekeeper for Woodland Clinic until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin J. Herren, four brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include her two sons, Anthony (Tammy) Herren and Tim (Patricia) Herren; her daughter, Kelly (Ryan) Fordham; five grandchildren, Allen Herren, Allison Herren, Hannah Herren, Maddie Fordham, and Andy Fordham; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Herren, Hagan Herren, Samuel Walker, and Brian Walker, all of Woodland, Alabama; her brothers, Herman Downs, Wayne Downs, and Bobby Downs, all of Bowdon, Georgia; her sister, Minnie Lee Smith of Carrollton, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. (Georgia Time) at Bethel East Baptist Church. Bro. Jerry Wiggins and Bro. Styles Akins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jay Herren, Adam Downs, Herman Herren, Ricky Herren, Nelson Britt, Russell Downs, and Jackie Simmons. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the service, her body will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 p.m. (Georgia Time) till the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4:00 till 7:00 p.m. (Georgia Time).
