Albert served as a Second Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24D "Jughead" #41-24068, 400th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Cook County, Illinois prior to the war.

B-24D #41-24068 took off from 5 Mile Drome (Wards) on a bombing mission against Wewak, East Sepik Province Papua New Guinea. While trying to fly under a tropical storm they collided with the rugged terrain during the war.

Albert was "Killed In Action" in this crash along with the entire crew.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in Australia and was later repatriated here on April 1, 1949.
