Gloria Barker 81, of Beaumont, TX; passed Dec. 12, 2022.
Services are Saturday Jan. 07, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church 3099 Brenham St, Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 12Noon until Funeral at 1PM. Interment will be in Green Lawn II Cemetery Beaumont, TX.
A beautiful and fulfilled life came to an end on December 13, 2022, when Gloria Barker sang her last song as she was called home for her heavenly reward.
Gloria was the first child born to Hebert and Ida "Easter" Tyrrell on November 16, 1941, in Beaumont, Texas. Later "Easter" married Bro. Eli Richards who reared her.
She was baptized at an early age at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. N. Johnson. Gloria loved her pastors but most especially the Bethel Baptist Church Family. She held a myriad of positions in the church throughout her life beginning with: Junior usher as well as Junior choir member, President of the Senior Choir for over 50 years, Secretary of Senior Mission, Chairman of Culinary Dept., Church Clerk, deaconess, and a member of the Ministers Wives Association. Gloria remained a faithful member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church until her death. She attended the public schools of Beaumont, Texas in the South Park ISD where she graduated from Hebert High School Class of 1960. She married the love of her life, Walter Barker, on May 29th, 1963, and to that union three children were born: Reginald, Amanda, and Hope. They remained married until his death. She was preceded in death by her son Reginald.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughter; Amanda and Hope Barker; sisters, Margaret Ann Blanford (Colvin); Lynette Barganey; one Brother Michael Tyrrell; Grandchildren: April, Reginald, Sebastian, Jhared, Hannah, Haylee and Justice: four great grandchildren, Cameron, Cadance, Elan, and Carleigh, and host of relatives and friends.
