Mrs. Wilson was born May 14, 1910 in Micaville, NC. to the late Reverend Jesse & Cora Young Blalock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Eugene Wilson, and a brother, Lloyd Vance Blalock.
Mrs. Wilson was a graduate of Aberdeen High School, she received her formal education from Mars Hill College, Meredith College & East Carolina University. She taught elementary school for 38 years, in both Mitchell and McDowell counties. While teaching at West Marion Elementary and Nebo Elementary schools, she sponsored award winning square dancing teams.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and music was a life long love, especially Christian music. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include two sons, J. Eugene Wilson, Jr. of Vilas, NC and Richard Truett Wilson and wife Joy of Marion, NC: Grandsons Richard Wilson of Frankfort, KY.: Derek Martin Wilson of Vilas, NC; Granddaughter Carol-Ann Will and husband David of Columbia SC; Heather Wingler and husband Eddie, of Banner Elk, NC. Four great grandsons and two great granddaughters also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 5, 2004 at Westmoreland Chapel, with Reverend Terry Childers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Interment will follow the services at McDowell Memorial Park.
