County Judge Guadalupe, Co., TX 1868-1870 and 1884-1888 James F. McKee was a graduatae of Center Collage, Danville, KY. He represented Guadalupe Co in the TX legislature for 2 terms and was in the custom service during Prsident Benjamin Harrisons term (1889-93)serving both Port Lavaca and Del Rio, TX. At the time of his death he was Chairman of the County Executive Committee of Schleicher County, TX.

Judge J. F. McKee, father of the editor of The Pioneer, died at the home of his son, J. F. McKee, at Eldorado, on April 8, aged 78 years. He came to Texas in 1850 from Kentucky, and settled in Guadalupe county, where he resided until about eight years ago. He held several important public offices in Guadalupe County, and was a member of the Legislature in 1875, during the administration of Gov. Edmund J. Davis, when such stirring times were experienced. He was stationed at Del Rio from 1888 until 1892, as Collector of Customs at that point and was known to many of the old timers of West and Southwest Texas.
