English translation oft he Latin inscription: Joachim Hildebrand was born in the imperial monastery of Walkenried in the Harz region on the eve of St. Martin's Day in 1623. His father was M. Fridericus, the prior of the same monastery. He completed his studies and worked at home under the guidance of his father, as well as in various universities, particularly in Jena and Helmstedt, for approximately eleven years. In 1652, he was appointed as a professor of theology at the University of Helmstedt and obtained his doctorate after more than ten years. On his wedding day in 1653, he was appointed as the abbot of Lüneburg and the highest overseer of the associated properties. He assumed his office in 1662 and faithfully carried it out for 29 years. He lived in a happy marriage with Anna Margreta Wissel, with whom he had twelve children, of whom a son and a daughter preceded him to heaven. Ten children survived by God's grace. He had no children with his second wife, Anna Sophia Hering. He passed away on October 19, 1691, at the age of almost 68, leading a pious life. During his lifetime, he desired that this monument be erected after his death, and he even personally composed this inscription.
