Wanda Jean Kaplor was born on July 18, 1939 to Bill and Minnie Jensen at Park Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. When Wanda was two years old, the Jensen's moved to Kensington and lived on Red Rock Stock Farm. Wanda grew up doing farm work and household chores.
Wanda graduated from Kensington High School in 1958. She attended North Dakota State School of Science, or NDSSS, in Wahpeton, North Dakota, where she studied Home Economics. While at school, she met and married Pete Kaplor.
Wanda and Pete first lived in Wheaton, MN where their son Michael was born. Then in 1968 they moved to Hoffman, where they lived for many years.
Wanda first worked in Hoffman as a waitress at the Dew Drop Inn. Then she went back to NDSS and got her nursing license. Wanda loved being a nurse. She worked most of her career at the Hoffman Nursing Home on the night shift. After she left the nursing home, she continued working as a travel nurse throughout Minnesota. After she retired, she spent countless volunteer hours driving people to their required destinations.
Her son Michael married Pam in 1982. She loved being a grandma to Heather, Melissa, and Micky (Michael). Wanda was always willing to babysit and help out with her grandkids in any way that she could. Then when her granddaughter Melissa married Adam, Wanda became a great-grandmother to Owen and Ian. She loved being a great-grandma too.
Wanda always kept busy, excelling at rug making, quilt making, crocheting, knitting, and embroidering. She created wall hangings using filigree crocheting. She did a lot of gardening and canning too.
Wanda endured tough times as well, especially when her husband Pete died. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage. After his death, Wanda moved into North Star Apartments, also in Hoffman. Later her grandson Micky (Michael) and then her son Michael passed away. Losing her husband, son, and grandson was very hard on her, but she never lost her faith and stayed active in her church. Due to failing hearth, she moved to Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria where she passed. Wanda was a very special person, and she will be missed by her friends and her family.
Wanda was preceded in death by her in-laws, Peter and Marie Kaplor, parents Bill and Minnie Jensen, brother Marvin Jensen, husband Pete Kaplor, a stillborn son, son Michael Kaplor, and grandson Micky (Michael) Kaplor.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Pam (Kaplor) Johnson, her granddaughters Heather Kaplor and Melissa (Adam) Hofland, and great- grandsons Owen and Ian Hofland.
