Sigmund Louis Sigal
DOB: May 29, 1943 Rochester, New York
DOD: March 12, 2023 Palmdale, California
1960, at age 17 (with parent's permission), Sig joined the U.S Navy. He was deployed in the Cuban Missile Crisis under President John F. Kennedy. As the war in Vietnam became more intense, he was called to serve in Vietnam 2 tours of duty. Because of events in the Vietnam War, he left the Navy. He received medals for his service and was honorably discharged in 1969. Sig took advantage of the G.I Bill for education. He applied to Pierce College where he received an Associate Degree in accounting. After Pierce College, he joined a few companies applying his accounting knowledge and became a Cost Accountant. As computers took over the cost accounting field, he was left looking for other work. Before he retired, he spent five (5) years working at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS).
In retirement, Sig enjoyed his family, playing cards on his computer, loved having a Pollo Bowl at El Pollo Loco while reading the A.V Press. His last marriage was to Eva Auskaps in May, 1983. This marriage produced one (1) child, David. Sig loved coaching David's Soccer games.
Sig is one of six (6) children and is pre-deceased by his father, mother and his older Sister Irene. He is survived by four (4) siblings, Maxine, Harriet, Cindy and Kenneth, all located in various parts of the US. He is also survived by his current wife Eva, and three (3) children, Ken, Stacey, and David.
