Charles Edward Brown
Son of James Franklin and Mary E. Brown, was born near Central Baptist Church east of Houston, October 2, 1888; passed away at his home in Houston, January 3, 1956, at 3:45 p.m. at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 1 day.
In 1913 the family moved to a farm near Grogan. On February 25, 1914, Charles E. Brown and Mary G. Stultz were united in marriage. To this union were born two sons: James Carl Brown of Garrison, Iowa, and Howard Wesley Brown of Mount Auburn, Iowa.
In 1915, Mr. and Mrs. Brown moved to Houston, where they have since made their home.
Charley Brown united with the Central Baptist church when a small boy. After moving to Grogan, he transfered his membership to Near Home Baptist Church, where he was ordained a deacon. Sept. 28, 1921. At the time of his death, he was a member and deacon of the Houston Church.
Besides his faithful companion of more than 40 years of happy married life, he is survived by his two sons: James Carl and Howard Wesley of Iowa; two sisters: Mrs. Opal Morgan of Moberly, Missouri, and Mrs. Lizzie Brooks of Grandview, Washington; one brother, Virgil Brown of Kansas City, Kansas; eight grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral from the First Baptist church, Houston, Rev. Elmer G. Walker and Rev. Jesse Baker officiating. Burial was in the Central Baptist cemetery. Thursday, January 5. 1955. Music was by the Amazing Grace Quartet — George Harmon, Duard Akins, Kenneth Ross and Ansel Coats, Mrs. Pauline Burch accompanist.
Pallbearers were Walter Redman, W. P. Cole, Farrell Jarvis, Walter Beeler. George Harmon, (deacons) and T.C. Jones.
