Virginia was born in Jewel, Kansas, on June 8, 1921. She moved to Oakland, California, in 1939, where she worked in the grocery business and was an avid softball player. She met and married her husband, Louis in 1942.
Virginia and her family were among the early residents of Pacifica, buying their home on Nelson Avenue in 1948. While her children were young she, along with many friends and other volunteers, organized the school lunch program.
She was involved in many activities raising funds for the newly established schools. She was a member of the Soroptimist organization and Mizpah.
Virginia had a long career with Bank of America. After retirement, she and Lou enjoyed the activities of the Moose Lodge in Pacifica. She also volunteered with Second Harvest Food Bank and served on several church committees.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis, brothers Doyle Lavern and Duane Byron Crites.
