Carl Lavern Baker, 69, of Rt. 1, Dalton, passed away in Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Saturday. He was born Dec. 2, 1915 in Randolph County, a son of the late Wm Perry and Florence Bryan Baker. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Brown Baker of the home; a son, Don Baker of Mountain View; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Toney of Dalton; three brothers, Perry Baker of Oklahoma City, OK, Roy Baker of Dalton, and Troy Baker of Muskogee, OK; a step-brother, Lehman Smith of Newport; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Tuesday in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Lowell Blassingame and Kenneth Camp officiating. Burial followed in Reynolds Cemetery with McNabb's in charge. Pallbearers were Bryan and James Alan Baker, Charles Prescott, Ricky and Joe Rider, and Perry Nettles, Jr. (PSH, Dec. 5, 1985, page 25)
