Bob was a Riffian, graduating from Barstow High School and he then went on to attend Chaffey College where he met a beautiful coed, Roselyn Williams, and the rest is history. He and Roselyn were married on Jun 27th, 1953. Oldest son Jerry came along just one year later, followed by David and then Robbie. He was a very caring and generous husband, father and grandfather. Bob's parents were very civic-minded, and Bob followed in their footsteps. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years and later served on the Barstow Fire Protection Board. He worked as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for Henderson and Barnes and later for the Marine Corps Base in Barstow where he retired in April of 1995.
Bob was a talented poet and took up both painting and sculpting in his retirement years. He was also an avid woodworker, specializing in beautiful, segmented bowls crafted of unique woods. Several of his sculptures have been cast in bronze and are cherished possessions of the family. "The treasure of life's experiences is something we all possess, but the ability to express those experiences through my art is a beautiful gift the Lord has blessed me with."
Bob grew tomatoes every year that produced a bumper crop and he was a great cook, following his mother's recipes for many favorites like Short ribs and Homemade Noodles. Bob loved receiving pictures of the family which he printed and stored in over 25 albums They had a wonderful group of friends that they traveled extensively with – on the AL-CAN Highway and many other destinations with their RV, and on the high seas on the Windjammer Sailing Ships. He and Rose loved keeping in touch with friends through Facebook, mail and by frequent phone calls. They especially enjoyed visits from the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Many family dinners and get togethers were spent in the beautiful home he designed and built in Barstow Heights.
