Colonel William Morgan was one of the hundred men who assembled at Morgan's Spring near Shepherdstown in 1775 and from thence marched with Hugh Stephenson to join Washington at Boston. These Morgans assembled the One hundred minute men or Virginia Riflemen and made the historic "Bee Line March to Boston"...
After the war, William married Ann Agnes Vail, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth (Jennings) Vail of Orange, New Jersey. They left one son, Jephtha, who lived in Berkley County. He later died on June 16, 1816.
Colonel Morgan was the son of Isaac Morgan and the grandson of Capt. Richard Morgan, who built one of the first houses in the Shenandoah Valley near Shepherdstown at Morgan's Spring.
