Mrs. Mary E. Kirkland, 83, of Route 1, Laurel Hill, passed away Friday, June 12, in a Pensacola hospital. She was a native of Coffee County, Ala., but had lived in Okaloosa County most of her life. Mrs. Kirkland was a member of the Shady Grove Assembly of God Church. She was the wife of the late R. I. Kirkland and mother of the late George A. Kirkland. Survivors include seven daughters: Sybil Brooks of Baker; Ruth Harrell and Annie Riley, both of Crestview; Jeanette Harison of Holt; Kathleen Hutto of Rome City, Ind.; Beth Youngblood of Laurel Hill; and Betty Bright of Hope; one son, James R. Kirkland of Villa Rica, Ga.; 33 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
