James "Jay" Willard Boaz
September 11, 1942 - June 28, 2023

James "Jay" Willard Boaz, 80, a resident of Harrison, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Countryside at Rock Springs.

He was born September 11, 1942, at Freck, Arkansas to George Edward and Ruth Davis Boaz. He married Miss Betty Lou Whiteside on November 29, 1963, at Hopewell, and the couple raised their family in Harrison. He operated Jay's Auto Sales south of Harrison for 49 years. He was known for his honest and fair dealing by his customers. He attended Harrison Faith Church and loved to fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Q. D. Boaz.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Boaz of Harrison; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Angi Boaz of Harrison and Rob and Lori Boaz of Berryville; five grandchildren, Abby Brown and her husband, Austin, of Berryville, Kailey Helmlinger and her husband, Seth, of Berryville, Zach Boaz of Berryville, Whitney Ray of Harrison, and Ali Newman and her husband, Richard, of Centerton; three great-grandchildren, JaRay, Jahmari, and Hope; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Harrison Faith Church on 112 Valley View Church Road in Harrison, with Bro. James Compton and the Rev. Scott Brandon officiating. Burial will be in York Cemetery at Bergman under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Jay Fountain, Zach Boaz, Austin Brown, Seth Helmlinger, Kurt Lovelace, and Eric Lovelace. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Arlis Thrasher, Bill Whiteside, Billy Paul Matlock, Jim Brasel, Charles Raulston, Phillip Willy, Ralph Yancy, Rex Lovelace, Russel Jenkins, Steve Cole, and Steward Cole.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday, at the church.

The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the nurses and staff of Countryside at Rock Springs for their care of Jay.
