GALESBURG , Aug. 25.—Isaac Odell sr., a well-known citizen of the township of Comstock, this county, died shortly afternoon yesterday at his residence 2 1/2 miles northwest of this village, in the 67th year of his age. His disease was chronic nephritis of the kidneys coupled with heart disease and asthma. He was confined to his bed just three weeks, although he had been ailing for several years past. Deceased was born in Wayne county, N. Y., September 6th, 1813, and came to this state in 1836. The widow of the deceased and three of eight children survive him. Susan, married to W. D. Black, of Chicago, Ill.; Austin and Isaac Odell. He also leaves behind him three brothers and seven grandchildren. Throughout this township and village he was well and favorably known, being a man of great energy, industry and perseverance . Mr. Odell was a republican, and for many years took an active interest in politics. Kalamazoo Daily Telegraph August 27, 1880 page 1

Isaac Odell came to this frontier in 1836, and, after living in Galesburg a year or two, settled on the north part of the southwest quarter of section 11. He is now on his old farm, and is one of our good farmers and worthy citizens.
