Maxine Fields a former long time resident of Morristown, NJ passed away st Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL where she resided for the past 8 years. She was 96 years old.

She was survived by her sister, Gerry Pierce, Grandsons, Brian and Kevin O'Dea. She was a great grandmother to Brian and Petra O'Dea's children, Katie 7 and Alex 2.

Maxine survived her husband, Ernie Fields and her 2 loving children Susan O'Dea Schreiber and Steve Smythe and his widow, Joyce Smythe.

Maxine also had 2 other grandchildren Lance and David who also had children making her a great grandmother 3 times over.

Maxine had a full life growing up in the 20's and 30's in Crescent City, IL where her father and mother ran a meat market.

Maxine put herself through college and graduated in 1936 from The University of Illinois with a B.S in Journalism.

She raised her 2 children on her own and helped put them through college while working at Chubb & Sons as the editor of their magazine.

While working at Chubb, she met her husband, Ernie Fields who she was married to for over 30 years. She retired after working at Chubb & Sons for 25 years.

Maxine had a passion for cooking and traveling the world. She has been to Greece, Scotland, Portugal, African Safari's among many other places.

She moved to St Charles, IL in 2004 to be closer to her Grandson's, great grandchildren and her sister.

She once again thrived in Illinois, making a lot of friends and touching a lot of people's lives.

Her family in Illinois felt blessed to have her in their lives. Maxine brought out the best sides of people. She was the Ultimate Lady and Diplomat, always smiling, looking for fun and adventure and willing to help anyone.
