Linda Sue Abplanalp, 78, of Commiskey, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.
Born December 6, 1944, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of William Arnold and Mildred (Archer) Jackson.
Linda was a 1962 graduate of Madison High School and worked as a CNA for Majestic Care, Four Seasons and Jennings Hospital for 42 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, knitting, and crocheting. Linda loved to sing and played in a band, she once recorded a record in Nashville, Tennessee. She was also a Indiana University Basketball fan.
She is survived by her sons, Greg (Mary) Abplanalp of Commiskey and Steven Abplanalp of North Vernon; daughter, Lisa Abplanalp of Westport; stepdaughters, Dawn Renee Sandlin and Dalynn Rachelle (David) Lonsberry, both of North Vernon; brother, Steve Jackson of Georgia; sisters, Debby Poling of Tennessee and Pam Wigman of Florida; and grandchildren, Kayla (Shawn) Kipper, Destyne Abplanalp, Kyle Abplanalp, Jeff Gillstrap, and Seth Lake, all of North Vernon, Caitlynn Abplanalp of Scottsburg, and Wyatt Abplanalp and Waylon Abplanalp, both of Kentucky; step grandchildren, Cally Lonsberry and Molly Lonsberry, both of North Vernon, and Dr. Devin (Dr. Emily) Sandlin and Jake Sandlin, both of Irving, Texas; and great-grandchild, Karma Kipper, of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Abplanalp; companion, Paul Sandlin; son, Robert A. Abplanalp and stepson, Derek Sandlin.
A funeral service for Linda will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Pastor Will Fredstrom. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Napoleon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Linda through the funeral home to the donor's choice of organization.
