Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at Mt Zion cemetery for Gus Adolph (sic) Davis, aged 84, who passed away Sunday morning at 1:15 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. E. Underwood in the Sunset Community.

Rev. Slaughter, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church of Edgewood conducted the services.

Mr. Davis was a pioneer merchant of this county and for many years operated a general merchandise store in Cash, where he was known and honored by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

In early life he became identified with the Primitive Baptist church and continued with that faith.

He was born in Alabama, Sept.(sic) 19, 1848. He was united in marriage to Miss Martha Wood and came to Texas about forty years ago, locating at Terrell. After Mrs. Davis' death he located at Cash.

Six children were born to this union, and surviving are Mrs. W. H. Ussery, Mrs. W.J. Ussery of Cash, Adolphus Davis of Cash and Hub Davis of this city. One son, Charley Davis, passed away several years ago. Several grandchildren also survive.
