FINAL RITES HELD FOR EMILY CALL, OLDTIME RESIDENT
Mrs. Emily Call, who came to Soda Springs with her husband, the late Frank Call, almost 43 years ago, died at her home of a cerebral hemorrhage Sunday morning.
She was born Mili Mili Kapaki at Makawoa, Maui, Territory of Hawaii on August 24, 1895, the daughter of Luika Lei Huia and Hoopii Kapaki.
She married Frank Call July 15, 1911, and the couple came to Soda Springs that October. For two years they managed a motion picture theatre and general store here. They then moved to Grays Lake where they took up a homestead and later bought additional land.
Following the death of Mr. Call, Nov. 5, 1937, she managed the family ranches with the help of her children until her youngest son Desmond was called into service in 1941.
Since that time, she has made her home in Soda Springs with the exception of a year when she worked in Blackfoot and a years visit with friends and relatives in Hawaii, her native land.
She is preceded in death by her husband, two infant sons and a daughter, Ola. Surviving are four daughters; Mili Bench, Logan, Utah, May Phelps and Aloma Hussey, Soda Springs, and Eliza Lei Sibbett, Grays Lake, and two sons; Ben Call, Conda, and Desmond Call, Wayan.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Soda Springs LDS Chapel by Bishop Wilford Dredge. Prelude and postlude, Aloha Oe, were played on the organ by Karma Kunz. Opening song, "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go" choir; opening prayer, Harold Balls; duet, "Beautiful Home" Valene and Joan Beck. Lift history, Charles Tingey; solo, "Wonderful Mother of Mine", Frank Harris; talk Odell Stoor; closing prayer, Thomas K. Gunnell.
Pall bearers were; Roy Stoor, Bert Reese, Emil Stoor, John Soderman, Garrett Somsen and Dr. Evan Kackley. Honorary pall bearers were Les Crawford and Krug Swain.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Whitman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The grave was dedicated by William Muir.
