It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Diane Reid, age 73, on June 24, 2023 in Jasper, Alabama. She was born July 16, 1949, in Jasper, Alabama to Basil Hawkins and Viva Louise Windham Hawkins.

Judy attended Walker High School and continued her studies at Walker College. She worked as a Registered Nurse at UAB Hospital and retired after years of dedicated service to her profession. A kind soul, Judy touched many lives during her career and beyond.

Judy was affectionately known as "Momma" or Maw Maw" to her family, who were the center of her world. She enjoyed spending time gardening, sketching/painting, reading the Bible, and cherishing those closest to her.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Samuel "Pete" Reid, her sisters Juanita Seybert, Mary Bryant and Shirlene Cunningham, and her great grandson Valen Hunter.

A ceremony in honor of Judy's life will be held at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects to a remarkable woman, on Thursday, July 29, 2023, visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. with services following, burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Judy will always be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and friends, her graceful spirit and her unwavering faith in God. She was cherished.

Judy will be lovingly remembered by her surviving companion Jerry Whatley, her sisters Lois Hawkins and Rita Handley, her brother Alan Hawkins, her children Paula Stone (Dwayne), Jeffery Adams, Laurie Hunter (Luke), Richard Dickerson (Amy) and Daniel Dickerson (Miranda), her stepson Samuel "Sam" Reid (Samantha), her grandchildren Jacob Adams (Tamra), Rachael Hunter, Katherine Adams, Nicholas Adams, Jessie Adams, Justin Dickerson, Kenzee Dickerson, Blake Hunter (Ella), Tony Reid and her great grandchildren Hampton Hunter, Addyson Hunter, Tenlee Adams, Griffin Adams, Kaylee Adams and Tanner Reno.

Judy was a devout Christian and attended Living Light Church of God, where she found comfort, community and support. Her faith was an important part of Judy's life and she found joy in spending time studying the Bible and growing her spiritual connection with God.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Samuel "Pete" Reid, her sisters Juanita Seybert, Mary Bryant and Shirlene Cunningham, and her great grandson Valen Hunter.
