Joe Bennett Graves, 73, of Parkersburg died Dec. 11, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Trenton, Tenn., the son of the late Felix G. and Mary Elizabeth Kelly Graves.
Joe was a retired truck driver for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2307, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1118, BPOE 198 and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Norma Jean Ellison Graves; two sons, Steven B. Graves of Jasper, Ala., and James C. Hodgson of Parkersburg; two daughters, Vicki Lynn Johnson of Elizabeth and Phyllis Lagale Graves of Jasper; four brothers, Felix L. Graves of Wingap, Penn., G. Wesley Graves of Dyer, Tenn., Tollie Graves of Jackson, Tenn., and Russell Graves of Trenton, Tenn.; four sisters, Helen Haskins, Frances Wilson and Dathel Mathis, all of Jackson, Tenn., and Shirley Smith of Artesia, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and was called "Poppy" by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, Parkersburg. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
