Harlene graduated from Omega High School, class of 1957, and one of her favorite accomplishments was winning the Omega girls basketball state championship in 1955. She went on to have a successful career at Cimarron Electric as a dispatcher, where she dedicated over 20 years of service before retiring.
Harlene is survived by her son, Criss Huckins, and his wife, Deby, of Sulphur, Louisiana; her granddaughters, Amber Albers of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and Megan Huckins of Lake Charles, Louisiana; her grandson, Matthew Huckins of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; her brother, Kerwin Crist, and his wife, Pat, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her sister, Gaytha Kreymborg of Edmond, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law, Wanda Crist, of Krugerville, Texas. Harlene also leaves behind her great-granddaughter, Harlyn Albers, who brought immense joy to her life.
Harlene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Huckins; her son, Lynn Huckins; her parents, Harold and Verla Crist; and her brothers, James Arden Crist and Eldon Crist.
Harlene was a talented seamstress and crafter. She also enjoyed traveling to various casinos around the country, where she could be found trying her luck at the slot machines or playing blackjack. Harlene's love for her family was evident in everything she did, and she took great pride in all of their accomplishments. In the last decade one of Harlene's greatest joys was spending time with her great-granddaughter, Harlyn, watching her play hockey and being present at every school event she could attend.
Harlene will most likely be remembered for her strong spirit and determination. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will cherish the time they spent together and the many happy memories they shared. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the many family members, friends, nurses from Accentra Home Health and Cherokee Strip Transit for their help and care of Harlene over the last couple of years.
A funeral service to honor the life of Harlene will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the First Christian Church in Kingfisher. Viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday June 25 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
