She was born March 24, 1917, in McPherson County to Solomon P. and Agnes (Friesen) Ediger. She married Arnold B. Schmidt Dec. 15, 1939, in rural Inman. He preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1998.
She was a lifetime resident of Buhler, living the last two years in Inman. She worked for Heidebrecht Meats for several years and as a volunteer at Et Cetra Shop in Hutchinson.
She was a member of Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church in rural Inman and Happy Hour Sewing Circle.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry Schmidt and Arlo Schmidt, both of Moundridge; two daughters, Marilyn Flaming of Peabody and Judy Goering of Hillsboro; two sisters, Linda Guhr of North Newton and Esther Nikkel of Moundridge; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Dick Ediger, Pete Ediger, Jake Ediger and Frank Ediger; one sister in infancy, Agnes Ediger; and one granddaughter, Deanna Schmidt.
Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Friday at Hoffnungsau Cemetery with a memorial service following at 10 a.m. at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church with Pastor Dean Linsenmeyer officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Buhler Mortuary.
Memorials have been established with Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church or Pleasant View Home in care of the funeral home.
