Forest Lee Chapman, 89 of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Memorial North Park Hospital. Forest was born September 22, 1918 in Wayland, KY. From there he moved to Orlando, Florida with his family. As a young man he met and married Ruth Dora Brown. A couple of years after their son was born, they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where their four daughters were born. In his later years Forest moved to Collegedale to be close to his daughters and his grandchildren. Forest served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II, serving in France and Germany. He was preceded in death by his father, William Everett Chapman; his birth mother, Maggie Howard Chapman; his step-mother, Ollie Pigg Chapman; his sisters, Ruth Haywood and Lucy Chewning; brother Joe Chapman. Survivors include his five children, Lee Chapman, Mickey Taylor, Evelyn Nicholaides, Marie Kriner and Melody Ferguson; 11 grandchildren ; 20 great-grandchildren; Six brothers and sisters, Willie Stockwell, John Chapman, Chuck Chapman, Donald Chapman, Marie Whisenhant and Danny Chapman; and a host of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in National Cemetery with Pastor Mitchell Nicholaides officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
