Roswell was the son of David and Alice Roberta (Peake) Countryman. He married Ethel Margaret Tallman on May 26, 1910 in Monroe, WA. He is survived by his wife, Ethel and children, Laurel Muriel Shipley, Irma Ethel Lydin, Margaret Eloise Ollikainen, Norris R, and Harold Alan Countryman. Ross and Ethel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1960. They moved to Olympia from Seattle in 1958. He was retired from the Great Northern Railway as an engineer. In 1960 they had 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Evergreen Christian Center under the direction of Selene Mortuary, Wednesday, May 30, 1973 at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Glen D. Cole officiating. Burial at Forest Memorial Gardens, Olympia.
