Mrs. John L (Adelaide Candler) Offutt, died suddenly Thursday morning at her home at Offutt, following a brief illness. She was born in Frederick City, Maryland on March 25, 1849, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Daniel H Candler. She was married to Col. John L Offutt on January 7, 1874. Early in life they moved to Anderson County, Tennessee where Mr Offutt became a prominent farmer and contractor. She leaves to mourn her death, two sons, Oscar and Will and two daughters, Mrs. Sneed Dossett and Mrs. M H Irwin, besides numerous relatives and friends. The funeral services will be held Friday at the home and burial in the family cemetery nearby.
